I've heard AIS coach Ian McKenzie holds a record for the most amount of times a person has managed to summit Corkscrew rd consecutively without stopping. The record is supposedly 10.
Does anyone have any more info on this record??

As in riding up and down the hill, if you pace yourself and had the right gears, you could go all day.

Thanks Jeff, I found the record is a full 18k loop, up Corkscrew down Montacute and back onto Gorge. I did 10 laps before I was wrecked, but I also rode 60k to and from the circuit, if I was going to challenge the record again I'll need to drive to the start instead of wasting energy riding there and back.

Hey guys
I remember maybe 16 or 17 years ago Charlie Walsh had guys like me and O'Grady doing efforts up Corkscrew 10 times before finishing with another 100k after that. It was brutal.

Hi guys,
Pls excuse this post being slightly OT.
Lovely weather on the weekend so I took my 13yo son for a ride and he sailed up corkscrew rd on a road bike with ease. We didn't do repeats but he was barely puffing. Anyway I told him that's not bad for a boy his age and he wanted to know if many other primary school kids had ridden up there before. Anyone know the answer to this? How rare is it?

I rode it 10times in a row on my mountain bike in 2009. Started at 11pm and got home around 2am.
I didnt know there was a repeat record. Id say 50 times in a single day would be impressive. I will give it a go this summer.
I have riden up Corkscrew Rd naked as a dare though. Not sure anyone else has done that.

As for a 13 year old riding up the corker thats a great effort. Take him up woodlands hill near Norton Summit and then he has done the steepest paved climb over 2k in SA.
