Hi Matt, I am interested in finding other people interested in riding the peaks needed for the 7 Peaks Challenge. Was planning a 4 day trip to the Alps to do: Falls Creeks, Buffalo, Hotham and Dinners Plain from 26th-29th Jan 2012 in the anti-clockwise direction for the 3 Peaks Challenge - starting in Omeo and camping overnight at Bright. Just having trouble finding someone to drive a car as a support vehicle. Have done Lake Mountain and Mt. Buller (planning to climb again for training) and haven't yet climbed Mt. Baw Baw (I live near Warragul). Cheers, Murray Campbell

Hi Murray Do those dates in Jan coincide with teh Audax Alpine Classic? Despite my trepadation I'm keen to tick-off Mt Baw Baw one day... Murray Campbell wrote:

Hi Matt, Those dates do unfortunately coincide with the Audax Alpine Classic - well that festival is on all week but I think the actual Classic is on the Sunday and was going 2 finish up by Sat. I have attempted Mt. Baw Baw once last Wed - but only got 2.2km up the hardest bit (after riding from Noojee). The straight 800m section at 13% plays mind games! Plan to go up again next weekend sometime hopefully once I've sorted out these foot pain issues... Probably won't be going 2 the Alps for training now - been spending money on shoes, insoles, etc... to fix some serious pain issues in my left foot. Might look at training in Alps once I get paid again after Feb 15th...

I don't know why they don't include the full climb up Baw Baw... the climb starts at the bottom of the hill from Tanjil Bren (tanjil river bridge) @ 500m and has a warm up at 4% for 6km then 6 km at 12% ave. End is about 1500m , so 1000m elevation in just 12 km... that really is a challenge! put it up against Buffalo (1080m in 18km or Donna Buang 1050m in 16km)
