Hi,
Broke my second chain in two months. One Sram and the latest was Shimano 7701. It broke at one of the sliding plates which bent (not the reuseable link). Im glad the chain didnt whip around into the rear wheel like last time taking out the rear derailleur and 10 drive side spokes (I believe it to be a record and can be verified by Sam and Noel at Blackwood Mega Bike who fixed it.) This time it popped out the outer plate of the front derailleur, so I will need a new front derailleur
I would like to ask for a couple of recommendations for what 9 speed chain to buy next? I have a nice KMC on the Vitus which I havent managed to break yet. Both times I broke a chain was climbing in the saddle doing about 30 km/hr. Would like to hear about other peoples stories of chain breaks and what they found as a better replacement? (No, I did not throw my Giant TCR over the barrier rail in anger, - I think my wife was angrier as she drove to meet me in Crafers to pick me up. I think I was lucky she didnt throw me off Mt Lofty on the way home!)
