Comments
Mark commented on his own time: "Didn't beat my previous best time sadly, but that was 5 years ago. The hot dry air damaged my lungs, but i recovered enough to do 5 climbs up that hill today. Only the first was timed, rest easy pace."

I also did the 155 ride, leaving at 6am. Surreal start, even the super slow start seemed appropriate at the time. Rode the 6.7kg super-clunker with light wheelset, and got quite a few comments about the rusty steel handlebars on the carbon TCR. Had a ball up the hills, but struggled on the descents. Dropped my chain 10 times along the way - one day I'll buy a front derrailleur. Mt Pleasant at 9.10am after stopping for a wee at Gummy. Started getting hints of leg cramps around Williamstown and didn't look forward to Menglers. Rode slow for 10km and found the legs behaved well up Menglers. As always, passed gobs of riders up the hill and found it quite OK, only to have them all pass me on the descent. The last 30km was rather frustrating, mixing with the mums and kids doing the local loop, and the poor cars stuck in a sea of yellow. I stopped 2km before the end on a grassy edge to "soak up the ambience"....and wait for the official Koester photographer to park and get in position. The finish was fun, managed a sprint to the line. Final riding time 5hr 20min. Pulled up well in the end. All up a great day.
