Pilbeam Drive (the road up the hill)turns right off Frenchville Rd. Site of the annual 5.1 km King of the Mountain Time Trial as part of the Rockhampton Cycling Club's Road Carnival (Record held by Glen Chadwick, Team Down Under fame - 17 min 11.40 seconds). My (44 years old, Masters Div 2)climbs - ridden the climb at least 250 times with a best of 22 min 11 seconds - 2002 Road Open KOM .The climb starts at the gates at the bottom of Pilbeam Drive and finishes at the carpark at the top, just as you come out of the final cutting onto the flat area. The main checkpoint on the way up is "The Saddle" at about the 2 km mark. Great picnic facilities at the top and also National Park walks. Altitudes from Polar S710 HRM
